I've used a few different sequencers along the way (remember 'master trax pro'?!), considered the move to logic several times, but it's never felt like the right time schedule-wsie. dragging/option dragging is so quick in that window - then i port over to sibelius. while Quickscribe is long overdue for some updates, it is actually very quick to orchestrate in there (or get your orchestration started). PT is better with audio and it makes delivery very easy - it is just industry standard.ĭP8 is a great improvement - it still isn't the most efficient in terms of computer resources, but there are some features like nested folders that are just indispensable, especially when working with a very large midi template. for audio i use Protools and VEP hosting in PT for VIs. for years i used it for audio, essentially everything, but nowadays i use it for composing and programming. i got on board DP at V2 - had the original 2408 when it came out as well. I stared on performer ver 1 (i think it was actually called 'professional performer' and i also started with their 'professional composer' v1 notation program, remember that one?!). I enjoy working with the ones I named at one time or another.Īnyway, just curious who my fellow DP users are. ![]() I realized after talking to some younger composer friends who use Logic (who also kinda trip when they realize I'm using DP, even for pop music), that DP was "forced on them" in school so it probably feels like their father's DAW! Apple's resurgence and buying up Logic probably helped that too. Cubase being right there too probably (although it's a bit foreign to me). May not win a beauty contest but it's design is clean and it's a deep program that's easy to get around in. They need to adopt VST3 and probably update Quickscribe and add a feature here and there, but personally I think all around it's the most capable DAW out there still. Last year, as DP8 was coming out I re-evaluated my choice of DAWs, but really liked the way MOTU did DP8, and decided to stay put. I think Cubase is nice and I see why a lot of people would use it for film and orchestral (especially being cross-platform and working well with VEPro). I use Logic 9 as a 2nd DAW for certain things. I've worked with ProTools a lot at bigger studios (exchanging files has always been interesting to say the least). 4 tracks of audio! I did a whole album that way! Bouncing tracks like crazy. It was a tough call but at that time DP had the slight edge in audio editing. ![]() I tried Vision, Cubase, Logic and DP (the MIDI versions, then the first generation DAWs). Personally I've been using DP since 1.7 (1993!!). So, who's using DP? How long? Did you ever switch and come back? Do you use two DAWs? The amount of historical knowledge offered for this game is absolutely stunning and the team hasn't hidden how much they've worked with Titanic experts for this re-creation. What's really stunning is that only 6% of the traversable areas of the ship are explorable and the devs promise that 100% of the ship will be explorable in the finished product. It's basically a walking simulator throughout the ship but the level of detail and the fun information to be learned about the ship is incredible. ![]() There's one more AooT reference in the demo (It's a semi-jump-scare so you have been warned).Īgain, this is just a demo, so you can't travel throughout the whole ship or interact with anything. The game also points out the first-class cabin where the player character in Adventure out of Time is. If you get tired of just wandering, you can hit a button and turn on a series of information boxes scattered around the map which will share interesting facts and details about different areas of the ship, (particularly who was in what rooms in the first class quarters). The dev team has cleverly hidden a few "Support us" messages around the map (the most clever of which is one written in the fogged up mirror in the Turkish Bath). You can even read the menu of the A La Carte Restaurant on the wall outside of it for example. Even so, the level of detail is simply incredible (just look at this image as an example). Cleverly placed objects such as paint-buckets, wooden work benches, crates, curtains, or even tea-carts serve as a means of blocking off the unavailable parts of the ship. The demo is generally the ability to explore select areas of the Titanic while she's still docked in Belfast and undergoing the final touches inside (hence the tool boxes, paint buckets, and liquor bottles stashed everywhere) and is ready to sail out for her sea-trials. Is TH&G a recreation of AooT? No, but by the developers' own admission, there is some overlap (i.e. Titanic: Honor and Glory is going to be the first fully 3D and most detailed model of the ill-fated RMS Titanic to have been made so far, far outclassing the old Adventure out of Time game. However, to one team of Titanic enthusiasts, there's something already in the works that'll be launching by or around 2020. The tragedy of Titanic is one that has persisted for over 100 years now, existing only in museum pieces, photographs, and even in a certain PC game from 1996 (Titanic: Adventure out of Time, on sale on Steam for $6.00). I'm so impressed with the quality of this re-creation I'm allowing this image to be downloaded as a wallpaper.įor those of us who grew up in the 90s, we'll remember the buzz around the James Cameron 1997 movie surrounding the tragedy of the RMS Titanic. The Demo doesn't allow anyone to go beyond C deck on the fore staircase and there's no way to get to the fore staircase on B-Deck in the demo. The Demo can be downloaded for free here - (Warning, the compressed zip file is almost 5 GB large.the Demo itself is 9 GB large).Īnd before anyone grouses at me that there's something off with this staircase, this is the aft Grand Staircase on Titanic, not the familiar fore staircase (Note the lack of decoration around the clock). ![]() Those who contributed $15 or more to the project gained early access to these demos, but those who have contributed $15 or more in the past or future will still be granted access to a private Facebook group we set up for discussions about the demo/s, and now about the project and Titanic in general. The image above was acquired through the demo of Titanic: Honor and Glory, currently under development. But more than that, a chunk of Titanic history is also included the Harland and Wolff shipyard in Belfast, (Northern) Ireland! In this demo, the explorable interior is expanded to include areas from Demo 1 and a couple other places, as well as additional teasers and visible rooms. You’ve been waiting for ages, you’ve heard the talk, you’ve seen the teasers, you’ve watched the latest videos, now play it yourself! It is available for PC as either a regular demo or a VR demo. Combat can be as small as you in a light fighter dog-fighting a single opponent, to your fleet of battleships and carriers deploying wings of fighters and frigates into massive frays of cannons and missiles flying everywhere. If you see a ship in this game, with very few exceptions, you can purchase, command, and fly that ship - including the largest of battleships. If you're oldschool, you can think of it as Elite for this generation. ![]() The scale of your ships, the size of your fleets, and the empires you create are on roughly the same scale as EvE. Some people liken it to EvE Online the single player version. The space flight feels more like a flight sim, the trading is much more detailed. If you could think about it in comparison with other games, think of it like Freelancer, only much more detailed on every level. Albion Prelude 3.0, Shady Business, came out 5/2013, which adds several new plots to the initially barebones expansion. OOS combat has been re-balanced, bringing it more in line with in-sector combat. Missiles have been completely re-done and are now worth using and capital ship hull strength has been massively increased. Albion Prelude is an add-on to X3: Terran conflict and includes several new ships, missions, stations, sectors, and plotlines as well as a stock market and a variety of balance changes. X3: Albion Prelude (X3:AP) is fifth edition of the long running PC sandbox space trading and combat simulator from German developer Egosoft. If you're looking to come back to and/or try this series, now is a great time. Only get the X3: Gold bundle unless you've already finished X3:AP and X3:TC and are needing more. X3:AP is a much smoother experience than either of them, and the most smooth experience in the X3 universe yet. AP 3.0 contains all the content of Terran Conflict with the exception of the main plot, just as Terran Conflict contained all of Reunion. Only play X3:TC if you want to experience the main, mediocre plot. As of Albion Prelude 3.0, it's recommended that you play only X3:AP and bypass X3:TC completely. ![]() The leak also contained personal files of the developers, leading to concerns about privacy depending on how the information was shared. The leak comprised information about the Super Nintendo Entertainment System and Nintendo 64 consoles and their games, including prototypes and data related to Star Fox and Star Fox 2, whose veracity was confirmed by Nintendo programmer Dylan Cuthbert. Journalists and Nintendo fans dubbed this leak the "Gigaleak". In late July 2020, a second set of leaked data several gigabytes in size was released. Further evidence to support the source being Clark can be found in the file modification dates of some released files, dated to March and May 2018, the same timeframe Clark allegedly had access. According to Kirk, Nintendo likely knew the material would eventually be leaked. According to reporting by journalist Jeremy Kirk of Bank Info Security, Clark sent the data he stole to several of his acquaintances, who subsequently began leaking the information on 4chan. ![]() Another possible source was Zammis Clark, a Malwarebytes employee and hacker who in 2019 pleaded guilty to and was sentenced to 15 months in prison for infiltrating Microsoft and Nintendo's servers between March and May 2018. Because the leaked material included specifications related to the Wii, the company BroadOn, which Nintendo had contracted to help design the console, was identified as one potential source of the leaks. The leaks began to gain significant traction in early May 2020, when source code for Nintendo's consoles appeared online. The leaks began with smaller releases, such as iQue Player ROMs and early Pokémon designs. Leaks īeginning in March 2018, information began to spread about a trove of stolen data from Nintendo's servers being leaked by hackers via the anonymous imageboard website 4chan. In January 2020, Hernandez pled guilty to stealing the information from Nintendo. In a notable case, Nintendo, with the assistance of the US Federal Bureau of Investigation, sought enforcement action against Ryan Hernandez, a hacker who infiltrated Nintendo's internal database to leak plans of what games and hardware Nintendo planned to announce for upcoming shows like the Electronic Entertainment Expo. Nintendo is aggressive in ensuring its intellectual property in both hardware and software is protected. Ethan Gach of Kotaku described Nintendo as "notoriously secretive" about development. Software Nintendo produces includes popular franchises such as Mario, The Legend of Zelda, and Pokémon. Its hardware products include the handheld Game Boy and Nintendo DS families and home consoles such as the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES), Super NES, Nintendo 64 (N64), GameCube, and Wii. Nintendo is a Japanese video game developer and publisher that produces both software and hardware. In June 2022, Nintendo acknowledged the leaks whilst assuring an increase to their overall security. ![]() The leaks are infamous for the sheer size and the amount of internal material leaked video game journalists have described the magnitude of the leaks as unprecedented, and suggested that they might have significant effects for piracy in addition to the legal questions posed by the leak. An earlier, much smaller leak had also occurred in 2018 which contained the Nintendo Space World 1997 demos for Pokémon Gold and Silver. The leaks are believed to have come from companies contracted by Nintendo in the design of these consoles, and/or from individuals previously convicted of intrusion into Nintendo systems. The name "Gigaleak" mainly refers to the second leak on July 24, 2020, which was 3 gigabytes in size.
