![]() I have also tried to disable the ACPI and other unnecessary devices in the Device Manager, and still nothing has an impact on the spikes I'm seeing in Latency Checker. Like others have said before, I am unable to suspend two of the ACPI in either Process explorer or Process Hacker. I have done all of the basic things one can do to improve system performance (lowering visual settings, changing battery options, and enabling the 2nd processor) as well as attempting to follow your advice on disabling the ACPI thread. Hey DJQuartz, I just want to say the support and dedication you've shown to all the frustrated users here is very admirable. I use DPC latency checker and Latencymon after I've resumed the threads to check the latency spikes have come back before I shut down. Make sure you resume these threads before you shut down the computer. They are quite tricky to highlight because the lines jump up and down somewhat. Yours might be named and numbered differently but just suspend those only beginning with 'acpi.sys' and it should be okay. I have them labelled acpi.sys+0xfca0 and acpi.sys! DeregisterOpRegionhandler+0x37dc. My acpi.sys threads are on TID numbers 172 and 168. post 600 (Sorry I'm having trouble copying the post). When using the process hacker itself I followed the steps by djquartz. It may be best to make a note of where they are extracted to locate easily. ![]() Next extract all files if it is the first time you use it. The first time you open the download choose/double-click the x86 file folder if you're using a 32-bit operating system then double click the 'process hacker' application (should be the third one down out of three). You can't use process hacker without doing this first in Vista as far as I know. You have to untick a box and restart the computer. ![]() Just checked my emails.įirst of all, if you haven't done so already, make sure 'user account control' is switched off from the control panel.
